One of the most important and easily overlooked aspects of project management is the identification and mitigation or elimination of risks. At all stages of the project individual risk items should be monitored for their current and historical probability, impact to the program and consequences. Trend lines can be established and automatic alerts made to the project manager as required.
Risk management is all about identifying what could go wrong, what to do about it and what it will cost. Ideally the strategy is thought through in detail before the program starts in order to assess the overall P&L of the program under various scenarios.
The inKontext™ Collaboration suite enables automatic tracking of risks and the extraction of metrics, risk convergence ratios, and any other user defined reports. A further and unique aspect to the risk management solution is the fact that other artifacts (minutes of meetings, action items, documents etc) which have been entered into the system can be linked to the risk. This allows for the extraction of extremely valuable metrics such as the frequency of meetings associated with the risk over time, the number of action items which are concerned with it or the spread and trend of team members who are actively involved with its closure.
